What happens during your first visit

Please arrive a few minutes early. You'll check in on our iPad system, and because we run on time, you won't spend long in the lounge. Then:

• A conversation first. Tell us what brought you in, what has bothered you about past dental visits, and what you would like your teeth to look and feel like.
• 3D scan. A detailed digital model of your teeth and bite, which we can show you on screen.
• Oral cancer screening. A quick visual and physical check of your mouth, tongue and throat area, done at every checkup.
• Digital X-rays. Up to 80% less radiation than traditional film, with images ready in seconds.
• A full exam. Your dentist checks teeth, gums and existing fillings or crowns, using an intraoral camera so you can see what we see.
• Your plan. We explain what we found in plain language — what needs attention now, what can wait, and what is healthy — with a written estimate for any treatment.

What to bring

A little preparation makes the visit smoother:

• Your dental insurance card or plan details, if you have coverage
• A list of medications and any health conditions or allergies
• The name and phone number of your previous dentist, so we can request your records
• Any questions or worries — write them down so nothing gets forgotten

Riverpark Dental of Howell is in-network with 32 PPO plans, including Aetna, Cigna Dental DPPO, Guardian, MetLife and several Blue Cross Blue Shield plans. Share your plan details when you book and our insurance coordinators will verify your benefits before your appointment, so the estimate you receive reflects what your plan is expected to pay. No insurance? Our in-house membership plan covers exams, routine X-rays and two cleanings a year for a flat fee, and in-house and third-party financing are available for larger treatment.

We handle your record transfer

Switching dentists shouldn't mean chasing paperwork. Give us your previous dentist's details and our team requests your records and X-rays directly. Recent X-rays from another office can sometimes reduce what we need to take again — your dentist will let you know.
